Dr. Habib Afsar MBBS, FCPS, MSc. is the director of the center for arts-based methodologies & well-being. Dr. Afsar has over two decades of experience in development sector focusing on health. More recently, Dr. Afsar is dedicated to exploring the use of arts for social and personal change towards healthier living. He utilizes arts-based methods to work with communities to understand their behaviors and identify context-specific interventions through individual and community empowerment initiatives.
His past work focused on psychosocial support to frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, celebrating the cultural legacy of a city, facilitation of dialogue among children around peacebuilding, harmony, and co-existence, and addressing mental health challenges among children in Pakistan. In addition, he has conducted quantitative and qualitative evaluations, and assessments around emergencies in KP and Tribal agencies, co-authored a report “Establishing rehabilitation services for post-polio cases in Afghanistan” that translated to initiate projects in Yemen and Afghanistan.
